Roe Valley Sprint Triathlon 2011
Well done to everyone who took part, results are available here.
Race briefing available here
This race which is now in its 12th year is seen by many as one of the Rites of Spring! It presages the start of Triathlon in Northern Ireland for the season and consists of the very popular Sprint Event:
- 750 metre swim (30 lengths)
- 20K/12.4 mile bike ride on an out and back course which is undulating
- And a flat 5 K run which is an out and back course to the edge of the forest
This event is always a sell out and there will be 180 places this year. The Club runs this in organisation with the Roe Valley Cycling Club; the Limavady Amateur Swimming Club and Springwell Running Club. Last year every contestant received a CD of a local band; a triathlon racing Ireland magazine; and other goodies. Entry fee is only £1.00 dearer than last year and the event is an approved Triathlon Ireland sanctioned race. Our aim is to provide a fun, safe, race over a standard distance and there is plenty of healthy competition particularly in the age groups. It doesn't matter whether you take 59 mins. or 1 hr. 59 mins. you will be made most welcome in the Roe Valley in Limavady.
There is car parking available at the Leisure Centre although we would ask you to consider parking on the other side of the road to ease congestion at the Leisure Centre which obviously has a lot of other events on at the same time. The Transition Area this year as last year will be at the back of the complex. There will be 6 heats and everyone is graded according to estimated times. Please note that Heat 1 will be a Ladies only heat.
There are prizes in each of the age categories and free tea and sandwiches afterwards. On-line entry is now closed.
